The rudder

Mission: Look at the outline of the Monument from afar: which part of a ship does it remind you of?

It is a rudder 54 metres tall: the symbol of those who hold the course even in the storm.

Mission: Imagine flying over the Monument like a seagull: what shape would you see?

Seen from above it has the outline of a stylised bird, wings spread over the harbour.

Mission: Enter the crypt and look at the ceiling: where do you seem to be?

Inside the hull of an upturned ship at the bottom of the sea: the arches are its ribs.

The golden stone

Mission: Watch the stone of the Monument in the sunlight: what colour does it turn?

It is carparo, the golden stone of this land: at sunset it seems to catch fire.

The green light

Mission: Come back to the harbour after dark: what lights up on top of the rudder?

Since 1984 the Monument has also been a lighthouse: its light guides ships into the harbour.

The ship's bell

Mission: In the crypt, look for a bell: where does it come from?

It belonged to the battleship Benedetto Brin, sunk in this harbour in 1915 and found underwater in 1968.
